Ein schönes Jugendbuch aus der Generationenraumschiff-Ecke. Da gibt es ja auch die unterschiedlichsten Stories in den unterschiedlichsten Stilen, dies ist eines der Besseren, das auch (gerade unter dem Aspekt des Jugendbuchs) bis heute lesbar und frisch geblieben ist. Im Gegensatz zu einigen moderneren Geschichten dieses Topics, die teilweise bereits bei Drucklegung überaltert sind.

Milton Lesser (1928-2008) wechselte in den 50ern seinen Namen zu "Stephen Marlowe". Als dieser schrieb er ab den 60ern hauptsächlich Krimis, wenngleich er immer wieder einmal zum Sujet der SF zurückkehrte. Im Gegensatz zu seinen himmelstürmenden und action-betonten Jugendbüchern sind seine späteren SF-Romane an Erwachsene gerichtet und deutlich reifer. Für seine romantisierte Autobiographie "The Memoirs of Christopher Columbus" wurde ihm 1988 der französische Prix Gutenberg du Livre verliehen, für sein Lebenswerk als Kriminalschriftsteller 1997 der Life Achievement Award der Private Eye Writers of America.
